Older roofs may contain asbestos. Previously, asbestos cement was used to manufacture roofs. However, this substance is harmful, especially if the roof is in poor condition. In poor condition, an asbestos roof must be replaced. This is because asbestos dissolves and breathing in these fibers puts you at risk of developing various types of cancer. That is why an asbestos roof replacement is usually mandatory. This is for your own health and the environment. There are two types of asbestos roofs:
Asbestos roof removal
Repainting an asbestos roof is not an option as sanding is not permitted. Roofing on roofs that contain asbestos is also prohibited by law. Removing and replacing an asbestos roof is therefore the only option. Both the removal of asbestos and the installation of a new roof can be done by the same roofer.
